Beth is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist working in an Acute NHS Inpatient setting currently a Band 8, leading an Older Adults service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. After graduating from the University of Birmingham in 2009. Alongside her clinical work, Beth has taken her interest in support and development further. She’s completed a post-grad degree in Health Care Leadership, worked with local universities to review their physio degree programmes, given guest lectures and as we have all been witness to, Beth has created the amazing learning platform that is Generation AHP! In the interview, we talk about how important the Older Adults patient group is and how specialist it can be. You will be treating older people more and more in your career as a Physiotherapist, not just on Health Care of the Older Adult wards but in every setting. This population need our specialist assessment and treatment skills as much as anyone else so we talk about how to work with older people and Beth covers lots of tips and advice that you can implement immediately. Andrew is an NHS Physiotherapist working in an Extended Scope Practitioner role as well as a specialist MSK position. Andrew also has his own private practice in Cornwall, UK. In this interview, we talk about placements, how doing less can be more effective, Bruce Lee, workloads as a student, transitioning from a student physio to a newly qualified band 5, Michael Jordan, looking after yourself as a student, keeping up to date with CPD and staying focused. Not getting overwhelmed by everyone doing lots of courses. We dive into how to use reflections to help you in interviews and how much is enough. Andrew also talks us through getting into sports physiotherapy.
